A quick batch of photos to bring us up to date, kind of!

As you may have noticed between, cutting the grass, brushing the cats and all the other arduous chores around here I fail to find time to keep this anything like up to date. Nevermind , here we go, these are all in date order and bring us from the last post up to May the 26th, today.

The felines join me for a  chilly Febuary walk around the garden.
The slope clearance has long ben an intention and now its actually happened. I even added the steps too. But the question is will I be able to keep the nettles and brambles off it?
The long planned “herb garden” finally starts to take shape. But will I remember to water the herbs?
Now that’s what I call a dark grey sky!
The weather is beautiful, sunny but now hot. So I was out doing bits and bobs in the garden. This extended fence around a beautiful bush that was spreading outside of the old one.
It wasn’t a heavy snowfall but was enough to give me a selfie excuse!
Nancy doesn’t go far when she performs her toilet at the best of times but here her tracks show exactly where I need to look to clear up after her.
Is there anything cuter than my little tiger curled up in a box sleeping in the sun?
Cute or daft? Or both? Nancy is one of the funniest looking creatures I have ever known
I bought 4 new trees in the flea maket, two cherries , an apple and a peach(I think). But this time I got the ‘naked roots’ saplings which are much cheaper than ones with roots balls in soil. The geezer told me to water them well and pray! Ha! Four fruit trees for 30 euros, if two survive the summer I’ll be happy! This picture feature a cherry bush/tree that is now over a month later flowering nicely.
At the end of March the Magnolia – which has struggled with infections in the past – was looking magnificent.
The next day it was covered in snow.
The apple blossom found itself covered in snow on the morning of the 27th March after a couple of weeks fine weather! Not good for the fruit to come.
A day later the melting snow (March 28th) turned the fields to lakes but thankfully did not cut off the road this time.
Breakfast of oyster mushrooms on toast and nice mug of tea.
The main path took some effort for both myself and the mower but tis done! The first cut of the year on the 26th April – yes I left it a bit late but I was away!
The Wisteria didn’t last long but it was gorgeous whilst it did. The bench below is now well and truly in the shade all day long.
This beauty has survived the deer, the snow, and the drought and looks magnificent.
The cesspit overflow pipe issue has finally been fixed. It required going to Bauhaus in Zagreb when it turned out the pipes in the ground are no longer standard and not to be found in Krnjak or Karlovac. Still now its done and next time I hope to have a photo of grassy path were once a smelly bog and nettles ruled. Notice how the willow tree has not recovered from the snow that bent its branches down so low.
I had a couple of visitors in mid May and was embarassed that the path to the bottom of the garden had not been recut. That is now remedied.
My 50e Lidl electric lawnmower is still going despite blatantly being ushed beyond its expected use level for almost 2 years now. The switch unit has died completely, my previous super glue and wire mending no longer does the job. Now I use a pencil! I drilled a hole through the top of the switch unit and the pencil neatly holds the internal switch in the on position, don’t tell the H&S dept! The blue string is not part of the fix it’s there just makes it easier to remove the grass bin!
Is this Nancy hiding from the sun or has the black cat finally found a background she is camoflaged in? A dead bird appeared in the house not long after this was taken.
It looks like Nancy is having trouble acclimatising to the near 30 degree temperature we are suffering from today, “It’s only May for fur’s sake” I hear her moan.
Despite the heat Sid sits patiently watching the long grass for signs of animal life that he can extinguish.

Life goes on at Barabrith.
